The founding. The Jackson Laboratory was founded in 1929 in Bar Harbor, Maine, by Clarence Cook (“C.C.”) Little. Dr. Little was educated at Harvard, where he did genetics research using laboratory mice with Dr. William Ernest Castle at the Bussey Institute. Dr. PBMC humanized mice. Humanized PBMC mice are used as in vivo models to study and evaluate compounds for infectious diseases and graft rejection research.
