About nature areas and nature park networks. Nature areas are places that have been identified as having rich biodiversity that are representative of key indigenous systems. They are protected and subjected to administrative safeguards under the URA Parks and Waterbodies Plan. There are 24 nature areas in Singapore, 4 of which are nature reserves.The North Eastern Riverine Loop is the fourth loop of park connectors developed by NParks after the Northern Explorer Loop (2010), Eastern Coastal Loop (2007) and Western Adventure Loop (2009).
