The early model Colorados had thermostats that opened at 180°. GM later moved to 195° thermostats and discontinued production of the 180° thermostats. You got a 195° thermostat. The temperature gage was calibrated to read near the center or just below the center mark with the old thermostat.
At the simplest level, there are two main reasons why the heater is not working. If it’s not coming on at all, it’s usually either the blower motor or some other wiring issue. If the heat is blowing, but blowing cold, it has something to do with the coolant getting to the heater core, or the heater core itself.One is a thermostat that is stuck open.
